For most student, this will be the first time they will be taking Economics as a subject. Economics seems to be a subject where students just need to memorise concepts to score well. However, this is far from the truth. Economics is a subject that examines if the student are able to apply and link key economic concepts to real life example.

One of the biggest challenges faced by students in H2 economics is understanding abstract concepts like opportunity cost, elasticity, and market failure. These concepts can be difficult to grasp and apply, particularly when students are first introduced to them.
Another major challenge faced by H2 economics students is time management during the actual examinations. The course is content-heavy, and students need to be able to balance between applying the various concepts and answering succinctly within the limited time.
H2 economics students are expected to be able to understand Economic concepts when applied to the real world. This may be difficult given the complexity of how real-world scenarios pan out.
To overcome the challenge of understanding abstract concepts, students could simplify these complex economic theories into bite sized parts that are easy to follow. Our tutors have done a deep dive of each topic and broken down the relevant concepts into easily followed and applicable parts.
Students can develop time management skills by creating a study schedule to have focus sessions on specific topics. Students would be able to then supplement this knowledge with practice papers to gain confidence in the H2 Economics examination format. In addition to providing practice papers, our tutors also leverage their years of test-taking experience to share and guide on best practices to approaching the various exam papers.
Daily reading of the news and familiarisation with current affairs has helped many of our students get comfortable when approaching case study questions. The results of our students say it all. Since 2014, our students have consistently continued to score way above the national average, notwithstanding that over 85% of our students were struggling to achieve a pass in their examinations when they first joined us.
With our guidance, our IB students in 2022 achieved an average of 42.06 for their IBDP examination and above 90% of our students saw an improvement of at least 2 grades within the first 2 months of lessons with Axiom.
Our IP and O level students in 2022 also achieved similar success with over 87% scoring A1/A2 or Grade 6/7 for their end of year examinations.
